Cross-country is now well established as a winter activity for all age ranges. Over 400 km of groomed tracks in skating or diagonal stride (in some cases holders of the Tyrolean "Loipe Quality Seal"), the Nordic centre in Obertilliach and also the classic of all cross-country events, the "Dolomite Run", testify to the elevated status and high quality of the cross-country sport in East Tyrol.
Because of its high altitude and the superb cross-country tracks, the small East Tyrolean resort of Obertilliach is the preferred training ground for many Nordic national teams.
